No limit drag racing 2.0 tune8/8/2023 Today, there is no reason your muscle car or hot rod shouldn’t start, idle and cruise down the road as smoothly as a newer car. Maximum safe power is all automatic with a Derringer — you just choose your preferred power level and enjoy the ride. The Derringer also auto-adjusts power if knock occurs due to bad fuel. Plus, Derringer’s special coolant temp monitoring prevents power addition when the engine is too cold or overheated. If it detects an issue, the Derringer instantly bypasses itself, sets a device diagnostic code, and seamlessly returns the truck to stock power. ActiveSafety health monitoring circuitry keeps an eye on the vehicle and the module itself. But unlike other tuners, it also connects to the vehicle’s OBD-II diagnostic bus. The Derringer connects in line with your truck’s engine sensors. The electronics are enclosed in a compact housing which is easily concealed and communicates with other Banks devices such as our iDash DataMonster, iDash SuperGauge, and PedalMonster throttle booster. When running Level 3 with a loaded truck and/or pulling a trailer, your on-ramp merging speeds and passing times are greatly improved. Level 3 is designed for work use and has a great mid-range feel. Level 6 produces best-in-class performance. Derringer has 6 levels, adjustable on-the-fly using the iDash. It actively and safely optimizes calibrations in real-time thanks to its OBD-II connectivity. Derringer is dyno calibrated to use multiple data inputs such as throttle position, rpm, vehicle speed, AFR, knock, coolant temperature, and EGT, just like your engine’s ECM. Results in torque and power gains across the full operating rpm range, starting right off idle and marching to the shift point in each gear. They are a good value at less than half the cost of Ford/Delphi replacements. All in all, it was time and money well spent for us. ![]() The old pintle style injectors made a helluva racket which i don’t miss at all. The new injectors are very quiet, being a modern disc-style injector there is very little mass. Truck starts easily now at any time and any temperature, no un-burned gas smell, idle after warm-up in closed loop operation is super smooth. This is a 5 to 6 hour job if you go slow and work carefully. We got the recommended Accel 150821 injectors 21 lbs/hr delivery rate (factory are the Bosh EV1 at 19lb/ hour). ![]() A fuel-line pressure leak down test showed what would be considered ” normal” pressure drop but i couldn’t ignore the other symptoms of internally leaking injector. Drove fine but would start to rough idle after a minute or 2. Truck was hard to start after sitting, smells like gas when it does but quickly clears up.
